Born in South Bend, IN on Apr. 10, 1953

Departed on Apr. 24, 2011 and resided in South Bend, IN.

Kenneth Louis Drake, 58, (My Kenny Babe!) after fighting a courageous battle with cancer went home to be with the Lord Easter morning wrapped in the loving arms of his family.

He was born April 10, 1953, in South Bend to Earl and Olivia (Whiteman) Drake. On February 15, 1991 he married his loving wife, Robin Marie Shelton, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Katie (Jason) Vandall, of Mishawaka, Betsy (Mike Thielmann) Boettcher, of Niles, Michigan, and one son, Kyle (Sara) Drake, of Elkhart. He was a grandfather of six, Casidhe Vandall, Madisyn Boettcher, Grace Fawcett, Aiden Fawcett, Abigayle Drake, and Nick Thielmann. Kenny is also survived by three brothers, Ed (Sandy) Drake, of Angola, Indiana, Tom (Patti) Drake, of California, John (Chris) Drake, of California, and one sister, Anne Drake, of South Bend, along with many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces, great nephews, and great-great nephews.

Kenny graduated from Adams High School in 1971. He went to the Acme Institute of Technology and got his degree as a tool and die designer in 1982-1983. He was a retail general manager for the past fifteen years. Kenny served in the US Army, C Trp 7th Sqdn 17th Cav Div., from 1972 – 1974 as an aircraft armament sub-system mechanic.

He was a member of the Harris Prairie Church of Christ. He loved the Lord and enjoyed praising him by playing the drums on the worship team at Harris Prairie.

My Kenny Babe was a wonderful, loving husband and my best friend. He was an amazing loving father and grandfather. He loved to serve the Lord in all that he did. He loved his family, his church family and his life link family. He enjoyed watching Notre Dame Football and Nascar racing with Jimmie Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Jimmy and Chuck.

You will be greatly missed! You are finally at peace in the Loving arms of Jesus!

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, April 26th from 4 until 8pm, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. and one hour prior to the service in the church on Wednesday. A service celebrating Kenny's life will be held at Noon, Wednesday in the Harris Prairie Church of Christ, 14719 S.R. 23, Granger. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harris Prairie Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society.
