Condolences

SOUTH BEND - Born Larry Gene Gordon on October 14, 1949, in Sikeston, MO, to the late Bertha Moore-Lawrence and Wallace Watson, Larry had been a South Bend resident since the age of four. He attended John Adams High School and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Larry Gene Gordon, Sr. “Waylon” entered into eternal life at 3:30 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2017, surrounded by family.

A retiree of Honeywell following 39 years of service, Larry spent his time doing what he enjoyed, hunting and fishing. But his passion was spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren. He was known to have a heart of gold and would go out of his way to help anyone.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Tanisha V. (Wesley L.) Harris, Lori J. (Frederick L.) Porter, Porsha Gordon, stepdaughter, Jernell Brown, and sons, Larry G. Gordon, Jr. and Terrence L. Gordon.

Twenty grandchildren: Terrence Jr., Tiara, Taja, Jasmine, Wesley Jr., Larry III, Devante, Delano, Tyshawn, Idaija, Quintin, Quin'Shawn, Jamon, Katherine, Jennifer, Jaylen, Starr, Aries, Destiny, Aniya and Serenity; and four great-grandchildren, Terran, Kavion, Kayliah and De'Marion, also survive him; along with two sisters, Pearley Lawrence and Yolanda Parchman; two brothers, David (Elizabeth) Gordon of St. Lucie, Florida, and Daniel Lawrence of Montgomery, Alabama. Three sisters-in-law, Deborah (LT) Hunt, Sharon Johnson of South Bend and Dottie Williams of Arlington, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Robin) Williams of South Bend and Dennis (Gale) Williams of South Holland, IL; an aunt, Katherine Neal; great-aunt, Jerline Williams of Benton Harbor, Michigan, also survive him; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who include best friends, Henry, Sonny, Jabo, Junior, Apostle Charles King, Sr., and Pastor Archie Shurn.

Preceding Larry in death were his loving wife, Linda K Gordon; mother, Bertha Moore-Lawrence; father, Wallace Watson; grandparents, Myrtle and Daniel Howard; mother & father-in-law, James & Willie Mae Williams; brother-in-law, James Williams Jr.; nephew, Ronnie Williams Jr.; and great-nephew, Quinton Jones.

There will be a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12, at Cobb Funeral Home, 3525 S. Michigan St.

The funeral service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at Greater St. Matthew's Church, 2507 Marquette Ave., with burial following at Riverview Cemetery.
