52-YEAR-OLD INJURED IN CHASE OCT. 7 DIES
CASSOPOLIS - Michael J. Beaudway, 52, of Leigh Street, formerly of 219 N. Taylor St., South Bend, died at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Hospital as the result of injuries suffered in an Oct. 7 accident. Mr. Beaudway was involved in a high-speed chase with police units that began around 2:45 a.m. on Oct. 7. The chase started in the area of Indiana and Main streets, and ended in the 3800 block of South Main Street when Beaudway's car went out of control, struck a raised sidewalk and rolled over. Mr. Beaudway, who was thrown from the car, suffered head injuries.
He was secretary-treasurer for Industrial Metal Fab Inc., South Bend. He was born Dec. 26, 1942, in South Bend. Surviving are three sons, Miles M. of Mishawaka, Jack M. and Matt M., both of Granger; his parents, Margaret Jane ''Meg'' and James E. Beaudway of Cassopolis; and two brothers, Mark E. of Granger, and Monte C. of Cassopolis. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Goodwill. He was a former first reader of the First Church Christ Scientist, South Bend.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. Cremation will take place. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until the services Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
