Jan. 5, 1938 - Feb. 20, 1967

Mrs. Gloria Ann Turner, 29, of 1226 Bissell St., died at noon Monday in St. Joseph’s Hospital of heart failure after a four-day illness. She was a clerk at Darrell’s Pharmacy.

She was born Jan. 5, 1938, in Dallas, Tex., and had lived here 20 years, coming from Dallas. She was married Dec. 29, 1958, in South Bend, to Johnnie Turner, who survives.

Also surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Alford; two sons, John and Darryl, both at home; a daughter, Jacquelyn, at home; two brothers, Jerry and Paul Alford, both of South Bend; and a sister, Miss Barbara Sue Alford, of Washington D.C.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday in Alford’s Mortuary. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Layman Chapel, A.M.E. Church, Rev. Billy Kirk officiating.

She was chairman of the Christian Education Guild of the church, assistant secretary of the church, secretary of the Mothers’ Club, a member of the Pastor’s Aide Club and senior choir.
