Janet Beck Keen

Janet battled with cancer for several years. Jan attended Indiana University-
South Bend part time. Jan was an entrepreneur and started her business,
Sunshine Caterers, in Goshen in 1979. The company became successful because
she valued her employees and her customers. She and her husband owed the
Dock on Eagle Lake from 1994-2006. Jan played the piano at several local
churches over the years, and for about 20 years she attended Trinity on Jackson.

ELKHART – Jan Keen, 70, of Goshen, IN, went to her much deserved resting place with the Lord Feb 14, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. She spent her last days surrounded by family and friends at the Center for Hospice Care. Jan was born to Dwight and Dorothy Beck Jan 5, 1948 in South Bend, IN. She attended schools in South Bend, graduating from John Adams HS and attended IUSB part time. She had twin sons, Jonathon E. and Stephen C. Beck who were born in 1968. Jan was an entrepreneur and started her business, Sunshine Caterers, in Goshen, IN in 1979. The company became successful because she valued her employees and her customers. Her son Jon bought the business in 2009 and named it New Generation Caterers. Jan and Richard (Dick) Keen Jr. were married in Pennsylvania in 1984 after a whirlwind romance. They owned the Dock on Eagle Lake from 1994-2006. Jan played the piano at several local churches over the years, and for about 20 years she attended Trinity on Jackson. One of her great loves was helping raise her grandchildren. She indulged her adventurous side with a trip to England and visited Kos, Greece for her sister’s wedding which allowed her to visit the sites of the Biblical Disciples. Jan is survived by her husband, Dick Keen; sons, Jon (Sonja) Beck and Richard (Heather Martin) Keen III; daughter, Michell (Peter) Dupont; granddaughter, Taylor (David Auguste) Beck, grandson, Noah Gonyon and their mom, Deanna Cook; additional grandchildren, Alora Dupont (Kaleb) Coss, Trisha (Dana Williams) Wallace and Jackie Wallace; great-grandchildren, Steele Coss, Braxton and Brody Wallace, Ka ‘Mauri, O ‘Marion, Cameron Williams, and Maria & Braylynn Wallace; mother, Dorothy Beck; brother, Larry (Nea) Beck, and her sister, Linda (John) Petalas. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Jan was preceded in death by her father, Dwight Beck, her son, Steve in 1986, and one grandbaby, Benjamin Williams. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Center for Hospice Care and Goshen Hospital for their compassionate care.  Friends may call Saturday, February 17th  from 1PM-2PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola. A celebration of Jan’s life will follow at 2PM with Rev. Ben Baier presiding.
