Jeffery Joseph Hauflaire

Jeff passed away in his home town of Phoenix, Arizona on January 19, 2018 at the age of 69. He was a supportive son, a loving father, an adoring grandfather and a good-humored friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jeff is survived by his parents, Joe and Jean Hauflaire of New Buffalo, Michigan; his brothers, Joe, Dean and Doug Hauflaire of Indiana; his children, Jessica Hauflaire of Seattle, Washington, Greg and Spencer Hauflaire of Phoenix, Arizona; and his grandchildren, Sebastian Hauflaire and Rudy Rimer. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Stebbins.

Jeff was born on April 17, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to Joe and Jean Hauflaire. He graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana as a state champion swimmer and received an athletic scholarship to Ball State University where he graduated with a degree in Geology in 1970. He moved to Phoenix in 1973 where he met and married Virginia Hauflaire in 1974. Jeff enjoyed music, sports and adventure. Jeff was fortunate to see acts including Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, ZZ Top and Elton John that greatly influenced his own style of music. The athleticism that accompanied him through school remained strong throughout his life-competitively swimming in every body of water he came across, kayaking, hiking, playing basketball and even completing a triathlon. His passion for adventure took him all over the U.S., to Mexico countless times, five years exploring Hawaii and a memorable family trip to Jamaica. During his nine glorious years of retirement he split his time between Phoenix and the Midwest, spending most of his time with his loving family, experiencing nature and strumming his guitar.

Visitation will be at 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral at 1:00 PM, Friday January 26, 2018 at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7^th Street, Phoenix, AZ  85020, with a reception to follow at Jeff’s home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jeff’s life.

Jeffery was a resident of Arizona at the time of passing.
