Mary Jane Fekrat, 70, of Granger, passed away Friday, May 29, 2015, at her residence. Mary Jane was born April 21, 1945, in South Bend, to the late Harry and Lorraine (Dailey) Ullery.

On March 23, 1968, in South Bend, Mary Jane Ullery married Fred Fekrat, who survives, along with her son, Bill (Angie) Fekrat of La Grange, IL; three grandchildren, Ellie, Liam and Matthew Fekrat; and one sister, Susan Millar of South Bend. Mary Jane is also survived by niece, Jenna Millar, and her son and daughter, Jordan and Jillian, and nephew, Frank (Robin) Millar, and his daughters, Allie and Tory.

Mary Jane shared her lifelong love of reading with others throughout her career. In 2013, she retired from the Saint Joseph County Public Library where she worked as a librarian for 15 years, and helped plan special events like One Book One Michiana. Prior to working for the library, she spent over 15 years working for Majerek's Readers World and Hall of Cards and Books stores. She was a buyer and merchandiser for the stores' book departments and planned special events, like author signings and readers clubs. She began her career as a first-grade teacher at Maple Lane Elementary School.

Besides reading, she spent her time enjoying her family, antiques, music and travelling. She was a former member of First United Methodist Church of South Bend, Tri-Kappa Sorority, and Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at Ball State. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to those who cared for Mary Jane at the end of her life: Tammy Wilburn, Cheyenne Wilburn, Rose Cole, Maria Marable and Mary Wilson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. Entombment will follow at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Granger. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 1st, at the funeral home.
