SOUTH BEND – Gregory A. Diamond, 65, residing in South Bend passed away at 9:15 PM Friday, January 23, 2015 at Hospice House, South Bend.
Gregory was born on August 1, 1949 to the late Charles and Maxine (Knowlton) Diamond and has been a lifelong resident of South Bend River Park area, graduating from John Adams High School in 1967. Following his years in high school, Gregory attended Indiana University South Bend where he received his Master’s Degree in Education. Gregory taught for 36 years with School City of Mishawaka. He also proudly served our country in the United State Army Reserves and was an avid golfer.
On June 2, 1985 in Barron, Wisconsin he was united in marriage to Bette J. (Gruesbeck) Diamond, who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Sara (Brian) Evans of Fort Wayne; stepdaughter,Michelle (Kris) Thornton of Osceola; stepson, Randy (Diana) Parsons of South Bend; five grandchildren, Courtney, Meghan and Brady Thornton, and Kayla and Nolan Evans; sister, Donna Weaver of Mishawaka. Gregory was preceded in death by his son, Brent Diamond.
Memorial service for Gregory will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home – River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615, where friends may visit with the family two hours prior to services at the funeral home. Mr. Bill Weaver will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
