Dennis W. Henry, 54, of N. Hawthorne, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 3:40 p.m., Thursday, October 16, 2003 in Hospice House of St. Joseph County after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Henry was born March 29, 1949 in Mishawaka to Norman and Geneva (Powell) Henry and was a lifelong resident. On August 7, 1976, in South Bend, he married the former Barbara Werner.

Along with his loving wife Barb, of 27 years, he is survived by two sons, Thomas Henry and James Henry, both of South Bend; his parents, Norman and Geneva Henry of South Bend; one sister, Kathleen Estabrook of Waynesville, Ohio; his mother-in-law, Joyce Werner of South Bend; two sister-in-laws, Cynthia (Steven) Witmer of Osceola, Ind. and Lu Ann (Gary) Garcia of Hawaii; three brother-in-laws, Mike (Marie) Werner of South Bend, Dale (Patty) Werner of South Bend and Roger Werner of Granger, Ind.; and by many nieces and nephews.

Dennis was an avid golfer, often times playing at Erskine Park Golf Course in South Bend and Hampshire Country Club in Dowagiac, Mich. Dennis was a custodian at John Adams High School for the past 17 years. He attended Hillside Missionary Church.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2003, in Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend, Ind., and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2003, in Hillside Missionary Church, 21567 West Ireland Rd., South Bend, Ind. Rev. Denny Potoczky will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
