INDIANAPOLIS, IN - George Earl Wilkins, 69, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on October 16, 2018. He was born in South Bend, IN on March 10, 1949 to the late George Wilkins and Estella (Taylor) Williams. George graduated in 1967 from John Adams High School in South Bend, received his Bachelors in Education from Indiana State University, Masters from Indiana University, and Principal's License from Butler University.

George's first job was at Whittaker's Restaurant & Fish Market, a family-owned business, in South Bend. He was an instructor at Indiana State Reformatory in Pendleton, IN. George was the Industrial Technology Department Chair for Arlington High School from 1991 to 1997, and the Assistant Principal for Warren Central High School in 1997, retiring in May 2012, serving students for 37 years. George also worked as the Assistant State Director for Senator Dan Quayle's State Office.

George's favorite pastime was watching college football. He enjoyed family get togethers, especially with his sisters and brother. George loved shopping for his favorite PCTs. George will always be loved for his ability to meet the needs of others, and his huge heart.

He is survived by his fiance, Rochelle Carey; children, Lisa Luckey, Benjamin J. (Andrea) Wilkins, and Calla Dain; grandson, Justin (Tiara) Luckey; great-granddaughter, Peyton; siblings, Prophetess Jackie (OC) Kennedy Coleman, Beverly Gilmore, and Gregory Lee Williams; cousins, Jimmy E. Whittaker, Bosie Watson, and Patricia Harris; and nieces and nephews, Voncia Wilkins, CiVon Green, Miyako Coleman, Laila Thomas, Karl Caldwell, CiVon Green, Britteny Gilmore, Breanna Gilmore, Gregory Williams, Andre Bonds, Jaquis Williams, Erica Brockman, and Elizebeth Williams. George is preceded in death by his parents, mentioned above; sisters, Johnnie Mae Williams and Ruby Jean Wilkins Caldwell; brother-in-law, Charles Gilmore; aunts, Ardell “Sugar” Whittaker and Lillie Mae “Sweet” Taylor Harris; uncle, Robert Whittaker; and son-in-law, Trent Luckey.

Services will be at 2pm on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, Indianapolis, IN with visitation starting at 11am until the start of the service. Services will also be held at 4pm on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Palmer Funeral Home, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN with visitation starting at 3pm until the start of the service. A private burial will be held on Monday at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, IN. “Eastside”
