Roberta Jean Allison

 

Roberta "Bobbie" Allison of Griffith passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2006, in Regency Hospital in East Chicago.

Born Roberta Jean Fleming to Burt and Juanita, she grew up in South Bend with a younger brother, Burt, and adopted sister, Terry. In 1965 she married Earl Allison of Chicago and had lived in Griffith since 1979.

She raised two sons, Steven, born 1970, and Matthew, born in 1976, and then returned to Purdue Calumet to gain a degree in early childhood education.

Miss Bobbie became a teacher in the Lake Ridge Head Start Program in 1993 and excelled in the classroom and as parent coordinator until 2001 when complications from her diabetes forced her to retire.

She is survived by her husband, Earl; sons, Steven and Matthew; two daughters-in-law, Zeborah and Karen; three grandchildren, Christopher (C.J.), Damon and Kennedy; and a stepfather, Roy Hamilton of Florida.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2006, in the Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home (corner of Main and Kennedy), Schererville/Highland at 7 p.m. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 5 until time of services. Cremation will precede the services. Final resting at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
