Michael R. Jones, 50, of Brooklyn Heights, N.Y., formerly of South Bend, Ind., died Friday, in Brooklyn Heights.

He was born on March 2, 1946, in South Bend, Ind., and had lived in Brooklyn Heights for the past 15 years.

Mr. Jones worked for MTV and VH-1, and had previously worked for NBC and USA Today. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University. He attended Boston University for one year and received his Master's degree from the University of Notre Dame.

He had served in the Vietnam war for two years.

Surviving Mr. Jones are his sister, Mary K. Udell of South Bend; five nephews, Dan, John, Samuel, Matt Udell and David Ramos; a niece, Jennie Klinger; and an uncle, Parke Jones of Orleans, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John N. and Helen R. Jones and a sister, Barbara Ramos.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend. Rev. Mary Hubbard of Central United Methodist Church, South Bend, will preside. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place in New York.
