NILES - Patricia Ann Barnes, age 65 years, of Shady Shores Drive in Niles, Michigan, died at 1:47 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2011, at her home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Barnes was born on March 8, 1946, in South Bend, Indiana, to William and Adeline (Beecher) Rothballer. Patricia graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend, earned her LPN degree from Ivy Tech and her RN degree from Southwestern Michigan College. She had been employed for 20 years at Elkhart General Hospital until her illness.
She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. She loved living at the lake and caring for her family
On February 4, 1967, in South Bend, she married Charles S. "Butch" Barnes, who survives. Surviving family also includes their children, Kimberly Barnes of Sarasota, Florida, Bethann (& Michael) Barrett of Saint Petersburg, Florida, and Charles W. (& Amy) Barnes of Edwardsburg, Michigan; grandchildren, Kaylee, Charles, Breanna, Cassidy and Richie; her father, William Rothballer of South Bend; brother. Alien Rothballer of South Bend; and sister, Shirley Forsythe of Plymouth, Indiana.
Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her mother, Adeline Rothballer.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4-9:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles. Contributions in memory of Patricia may be made to the Hospice At Home, Buchanan.
