Cheryl A Walker (Morlan-Hersom)

Cheryl Alice (Walker) Morlan-Hersom

September 15, 1946 ~ October 31, 2023 (age 77)

Cheryl Alice Morlan-Hersom passed away unexpectedly on November 1, 2023 at the age of 77. She was born on September 15, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Harold Duane Walker and Ruth Alice (Bangs) Johnson.

Cheryl’s memory will live on with her husband of 22 years, John; her sons, Robert and Thomas Morlan; step-sons, John Jr. (Sandy) Hersom, and Daniel (Emily) Hersom; grandchildren: Nicholas, Alex, Nathan, Paige and Nicole Morlan; step-grandchildren: Reshia, Travis, Alexis, Emma, Madalyn, and Bentley Hersom; and step great-grandson, Steven Spencer; sister, Jeri Klein; and many, many loving friends.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Robert Baker.

Cheryl was always the life of the party and loved to make people smile and laugh. She was always interested in other people’s lives and cared deeply for others. Her real pride and joy, her true passion, however, were her grandchildren and spending time with her loving family.

Cheryl’s caring, loving nature and always wanting to help others is what got her into a lifelong and accomplished career as a Registered Nurse. She began her work in pediatrics working and helping sick children, then later moved into orthopedics until her retirement from OSMC in Elkhart, IN about 10 years ago.

Cheryl and John spent a lot of time camping with friends and family throughout Michigan and Indiana. As anyone who knows her could tell you, her favorite place to camp and spend 2 weeks every summer was Mears State Park campground in beautiful Pentwater, MI. Over the past 45+ years they traveled to Pentwater where they met their family and friends for an annual camping reunion of lots of love, laughs, fun and beautiful peaceful evening sunsets.

Cheryl was a wonderful person and her loss will be deeply felt by many.

Donations in Cheryl’s name can be made to the 525 Foundation at www.525foundation.org, A foundation near and dear to Cheryl's heart. She spent many hours volunteering for the 525 Foundation and believed wholeheartedly in it's wonderful cause and mission.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on November 15, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. with a gathering of friends and family beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, Granger, IN (entrance off Cherry Rd).
