Evelyn Kay Troub

Oct. 25, 1933 - Apr. 18, 2016

SOUTH BEND - Evelyn Kay Troub, 82, passed away peacefully April 18, 2016. She was born in South Bend on October 25, 1933, to the late Floyd Chester Troub and Mary Elizabeth (Young) Troub. Two siblings, Mary (Troub) Camp and Floyd Troub, Jr., also preceded her in death.

Evelyn graduated from John Adams High School in 1951, and from the Memorial Hospital of South Bend, School of Nursing in 1955. She completed a Bachelor of Science at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. In 1961 she received a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Indiana University, graduating with a certificate of high scholastic achievement. After working for several years as an RN, and taking nursing management courses, she was hired in a tenure track position at Bradley University in Peoria, IL, in 1974. In 1978 she obtained a Real Estate Broker's license, moved back to South Bend, and sold real estate. She lived with her aging mother until her mother's death in 1985. She reactivated her nursing interests and was involved with nursing home management until her retirement.

Evelyn loved to plan elegant parties. She had played the flute in high school and took up the study of the electric organ in the late 80s. Her friends remember her willingness to hop in the car and go on a road trip, always bringing her Boxers with her. She raised Boxers for years. She was preceded in death by her three most recent Boxer companions, Cherie, Coffee and Cocoa, and will be buried with them.

Left to cherish her memory are three nieces, Mary Beth Camp of Bloomington, IN, Mary Kay (Mike) Sustek of VA, and Kathy (Richard) Boone of VA; three nephews, Donald F. Camp of Grand Haven, MI, James L. (Maryanne) Camp, also in Michigan, and William E. (Vicki) Camp of Chicago, IL; and sister-in-law, Elaine U. Troub of VA.

The family would like to thank the staff at Grand Emerald Place for the loving and compassionate care they showed to Evelyn. Per Evelyn's request, no services are being held. She will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to The National Kidney Foundation or to Grace Hospice in South Bend.
