SUN CITY CENTER, FL - Richard Arnold “Dick” Sayers, 90, formerly of South Bend on Rockne Drive, passed away peacefully February 16, 2016. 

 

He was born July 5, 1925, to the late Arnold and Hazel Sayers. His twin brother, William Sayers, also preceded him in death.

 

Dick was a John Adams High School graduate, where he was an athlete on the basketball team. On June 2, 1946, he married the love of his life, Mary Kathryn Bybee, who survives. Their union was blessed with three children: Kathy M. (John) Postle of South Bend, Rick A. (Barbara) Sayers of Hudson, OH, and Randall W. Sayers of Buffalo, MN; also left to cherish his memory are six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

 

Dick proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He played softball for many years with Post 303, and was active in AA for forty years. He worked as a mental health counselor at Madison Center.

 

Per his request, cremation with private family services will take place today in Sun City Center.
