Guest Book

SOUTH BEND - Margaret was called home on December 1, 2016. She attended St. Joseph Academy and graduated from John Adams High School in 1947. Margaret was always a beauty with a demure southern bell charm that clearly runs in the Clements family. Therefore it comes as no surprise that she won the title of Miss River Park as a teenager. She also did some professional modeling in her younger days. One of her assignments was posing for the cover of Studebaker Magazine where she also worked as an executive secretary for many years.

On July 30, 1949, Margaret married her partner of over sixty years, Wally Moore. Wally embarked on his coaching career as they built their family of five after the loss of their first born daughter, Mary, at birth.

Margaret was a very dedicated, efficient, hard worker. She was always employed outside the home while simultaneously raising her brood in a busy, hectic household. Besides Studebaker she also worked for Cole and Associates and the South Bend Clinic for many years. After a successful career in the business world Margaret decided to take on a new challenge in real estate. She obtained her real estate license and worked for Cressy and Everett until retirement.

Margaret was a woman of many talents including cooking, decorating, gardening and sewing. She made many matching outfits for her children and even created one of her daughter's wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses.

Margaret went by many names over the years - Maggie, Clem, Holmes, Holmesie, and the Princess, no doubt her favorite. She was dubbed “Princess” by one of her grandsons after watching Snow White together. He proclaimed she was the Princess and he was Doc. She turned her basement into a virtual wonderland of games and dolls much to the delight of any child who visited.

Margaret was at her best when she was caretaking and soothing the sick. It was often said she would have been a great nurse. She passed this trait along to two of her daughters and one granddaughter who all became nurses. Her caretaking skills would be called upon in the later years of her marriage. After enjoying a wonderful life of travel, friends, and socializing Wally's health needs began to decline. But he couldn't have been in better hands as Margaret took care of him and all of his needs for many years. She kept them both on the go, continuing a busy social life despite increased difficulty.

Margaret is survived by her sister, Beverly Ann Thallemer (Don), and four children, Ramona Moore, Robin Sullivan, Terrence Moore (Edel) and Anthony Moore (Pam), as well as a very special son-in-law, Rick Gerbasich. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Mike Gerbasich (Michelle), Brad Gerbasich, Ricky Gerbasich, Annie Sullivan, Jennifer Edwards (Chad), Stephanie Roberts (A.J.), Traci Bathrick (Tyler), Eric Moore (Amber), Colleen Herrity (Kevin), Coley Moore (Haley), and Shelby Moore. Also surviving are sixteen great-grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Moore and Monica Gerbasich, and her husband Wally. She was also preceded by her parents, Fred and Louise Clements, and three siblings, Samuel Clements, Elizabeth Harmon, and Mary Marcella Krzywkowski.

Margaret was never happier than when she was holding a tiny baby. Today she is cuddling her daughter Mary for the first time as she is surrounded by all her dear loved ones who were waiting to welcome her to her new home and we have a beautiful new guardian angel, named Princess.

The Moore family would like to give a special thank you to the caring staff at Wellbrooke Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice.
