David Michael Bytner

David Michael Bytner, 82, of Granger, passed away at home on Friday morning, February 25, 2022.

Dave was born May 3, 1939 in South Bend to the late John A. and Alice R. “Gloria” (Balka) Bytner. On May 31,1997 in South Bend he was united in marriage to the former Ava R. Tutson and she survives, along with their daughter, Brianna D. Bytner. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John A. Bytner, Jr. and Ronald J. Bytner.

Dave was a life-long area resident. He served six years in the United States Army 1st Infantry and 24th Infantry Divisions during the Vietnam War. He was a John Adams High School and Indiana University graduate. Dave had a 30-year career with U.S.F.&G. Insurance Company as a Senior Claims Representative. He was a member of the South Bend Adjusters Association, the Notre Dame Quarterback Club, and the United States Army Retirement Association. Dave was a life-long fan of Notre Dame Football and Women’s Basketball, along with a devoted passion for Boston Red Sox Baseball.

Dave’s greatest hope was for the survival and stability of this great country of ours, the United States of America.

Dave’s wishes are being honored as cremation will take place. A private service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka, with Pastor Jonathan Miller officiating. Military Honors will be provided by VFW 360 / American Legion 161 Burial Squad.

Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the care of Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
