Condolences

NILES, MICHIGAN - Gertrude T. Rosselit, age 90 years of Niles, Michigan died peacefully at 6:06 a.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Brentwood Assisted Living in Niles following an extended illness.

She was born on October 9, 1926 in South Bend, Indiana to Albert and Louise (Stehlik) Zeisz. She was graduated from South Bend John Adams High School, and continued her education at Michiana Business College. She moved from South Bend to Niles in 1954, and was employed for many years in the accounting offices of the South Bend Medical Foundation, retiring in 1991.

Gertrude was a member of Saint Pius X Catholic Church in Granger, Indiana, and was formerly a volunteer docent at Copshaholm - the Oliver Mansion at The History Museum in South Bend. She enjoyed traveling, especially to visit a great extended family who have remained in Austria. She was greatly appreciated for her home cooking - everything that came from her kitchen was a treat.

On February 18, 1950, at her parents' house in South Bend, she married Herbert N. Rosselit with whom she celebrated the remarkable Sixty-sixth anniversary of their wedding just a month prior to his death on March 16, 2016. She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Duane Fletcher on January 27, 2016, and a sister-in-law, Sherry (Mrs. Al) Zeisz on April 26, 1999.

Surviving family includes her children, Chris (& Ila) Rosselit of Niles, Terri Wielgos of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Tom (& Louisa) Rosselit of Niles; grandchildren Ellen Rosselit, Kara Rosselit, and J.P. Wielgos III; and Gertrude's siblings, Louise Fletcher and Al (& Sally) Zeisz, both of South Bend, and Delores (& Ed) Hanna of Amherst, New Hampshire; and many nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Gertrude T. Rosselit will be celebrated at Noon on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Saint Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in South Bend - due to construction at Saint Pius - by the Rev. William A. Meininger of Saint Pius X Catholic Church. Committal Rites will follow at Highland Cemetery in South Bend.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Saint Anthony's beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Contributions in memory of Gertrude may be made to Saint Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, Indiana 46530; or to The History Museum, 808 West Washington Street, South Bend, Indiana 46601. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Service in Niles.
