SOUTH BEND - Diane Reth, 56, passed away peacefully on January 18, at Elkhart Hospice House. Diane was escorted to the doorway of Heaven while surrounded by loved ones who shared scripture, songs, readings, and prayer.

Born in Saginaw, Michigan, Diane was raised in Niles, Michigan, and later in South Bend, Indiana. She graduated from John Adams High School in 1979 and went on to receive a certificate from Southeastern Academy, Kissimmee, Florida, to become a travel agent. Diane married the love of her life, Richard, in 1984. Over the years, she was employed at several companies, which included L.S. Ayres, Mishawaka, Green Tree Acceptance, St. Paul, MN, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Minneapolis, MN, YMCA of South Bend, Martin's Supermarkets (#11), South Bend, Renegade KIBBI LLC, Bristol, EPS, South Bend, and First United Methodist Church, South Bend.

Diane took joy in decorating for the holidays throughout the year, planning family events, completing jigsaw puzzles, and providing support of all kinds to the members of her family. In her younger years, she enjoyed the horses at Camp Eberhart. Diane could always be found down at the horse barn during her summers at camp. Her greatest delight was raising her two children and supporting them in all manner of church and school activities.

Diane is survived by her husband of nearly 35 years, Richard; a daughter, Emily Reth; and a son, Nick Reth. Lillian “Ginny” Curtis, her mother, a sister, Robin Hart (Brian), and a sister, Kim Kremer (Michael) survive, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews from her extended family. Diane is preceded in death by her father, Lyman “Curt” Curtis, and grandparents, Michael and Corinne (Krup) Botma, and Ruth Curtis (Albee) and Winston Curtis.
