SOUTH BEND, IN - Joe was born on October 7, 1953 to Joseph S. Fragomeni, Sr. and Joyce L. (Goeken) Fragomeni in South Bend and has been a lifetime resident of the area.

On June 8, 1974 in South Bend, Joe married Gail A. Heim Fragomeni. She was the love of his life, and he, hers. Gail survives along with their daughter, Ashley E. (Lee) Hall of Cleveland, Ohio; their son, Jason D. (Laura) Fragomeni of Yorktown, IN; and three loving grandchildren, Helena, Linley, and Camden. Joe is also survived by his mother, Joyce L. Fragomeni of South Bend; and two sisters, Judith (Scott) Fragomeni of Tucson, AZ and Jennifer (John) Fragomeni-Dawson of Lakeville, IN. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph S. Fragomeni, Sr.

Joe attended Stanley Clark School and was a 1972 graduate of John Adams High School where he excelled in all sports. Joe and Jason were the first Father-Son Legacy at Stanley Clark School.

Joe went to the University of Montana. He was employed, at the time of his passing, at American Structurepoint in business development for several years.

He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, golfing, bicycling, and loved nature. Joe and Gail shared a love of music, attending many concerts over the years. Joe was an avid Beatles fan. Some of their favorite music included Crosby, Stills, and Nash as well as Peter Frampton. Joe and Gail traveled to Northern Michigan where they toured vineyards and enjoyed wine tasting. Joe was an avid Indianapolis 500 fan for over 30 years and enjoyed sharing this love with his son. He was extremely proud of his daughter and attended every one of her golf matches. He enjoyed attending Notre Dame football games and was known for his legendary tailgates. Joe and Gail were season ticket holders of Notre Dame's women's basketball for over 20 years and tried to attend every game. Recent highlights for Joe was when the women won the National Championship. But most of all he cherished his time with his loving family, especially his grandkids who affectionately referred to him as Grampy. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. Everything he did was for his family.

Joe was a member of the Italian-American Heritage Society of Notre Dame/Michiana and South Bend Alumni Association. He ran the golf outings for the Italian-American Heritage Society of Notre Dame/Michiana for many years.

Joe was a loving, kind, and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, and son and cherished his family. His family was always first in his life. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and the numerous friends he made during his life's journey.

Legacy of Love

A husband, father, a grandfather, too,

This is the legacy we have from you,

You taught us love and how to fight.

You gave us strength, you gave us might.

A stronger person would be hard to find,

And in your heart, you were always kind.

You fought for us all in one way or another.

Not just as a husband, not just as a father.

For all of us you gave your best.

Now the time has come for you to rest.

So go in peace, you've earned your sleep,

Your love in our hearts, we'll eternally keep.
