I followed the sun to Austin, Texas, in 1986, and began working there as in-house counsel for technology companies (Texas Instruments, Tandem Computers, Compaq, IBM, Renew Data, 724 Solutions, Scarab Consulting). In 1988 I began a new branch of my professional activity when I became a board member and, later, chair of several independent Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) that contract with CROs, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, and independent investigators. Currently I serve as a nonscientific board member of Advarra in this capacity. Since 2018 I have been working as corporate counsel with Axiom Global, providing my legal services through Axiom to Fortune 500 companies Google, Mastercard, and Rackspace USA. This work for Axiom is remote, and has enabled me to work from my home office throughout the pandemic and afterward.

JAHS Band and Orchestra member 1969-1973 (Played the Bassoon, but faked a Sousaphone for marching band my freshman and sophomore years, later getting promoted to actually playing the bass drum while marching.)
