Thomas L. Stewart – Osceola, Indiana, Thom passed away on September 16, 2012 after a well fought battle against cancer.  Thom is survived by his loving wife, Susan and by his twin daughters, Jessica and Stephanie, who were his pride and joy.  Before his illness, Thom worked for Zurn/U.S. Brass as an independent delivery driver.  Because of his love of nature, Thom spent every opportunity he had outdoors.  He spent his days playing golf, kayaking down any river or lake, tending to his gardens and spent his nights relaxing and gazing at the stars.  Thom loved camping with family and friends, telling stories around the campfire.  Thom had a big heart and always made time to stop and talk.

Aug. 24, 1955 - Sep. 16, 2012

OSCEOLA - Thomas "Thom" L. Stewart, 57, of Osceola, passed away Sunday in his home surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born August 24, 1955, in Indianapolis, IN, the eldest son of William L. (deceased) and H. Kathryn Stewart. On May 22, 1993, in South Bend, Thom married the former Susan Marie Adank, who survives. In addition to his loving wife, Susan, Thom is survived by his pride and joy, twin daughters, Jessica and Stephanie. He also loved his sisters, Barbara (John) Kujawski, Diane Stewart and Susan (Rick) Fries; his mother, H. Kathryn Stewart; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Adank; and his nephews, Michael, Patrick and Thomas Kujawski of whom he was extremely proud.

Thom graduated from John Adams High School in 1974. He was formerly employed at Zurn/U.S. Brass as an independent delivery driver. His love for nature started early in life; any opportunity he could spend outdoors, he took full advantage of. He enjoyed spending an afternoon out on the greens hitting golf balls, or kayaking down any river or lake. He would tend to his gardens during the beautiful days, and spend his nights relaxing and gazing at the captivating stars. He loved camping and spending time with family and friends telling stories around the campfire. Thom was a strong man with a big heart, who always made the time to stop and talk. He affected many people with his strength and love. The hope he inspired will live on in many hearts. All his family and friends will miss him immensely.

Memorial services for Thom will be 4:00 pm Friday, September 21, 2012, in Christ the King Lutheran Church, 17195 Cleveland Road, South Bend, with Rev. Steve Schwier officiating. The family will gather with friends from 1:00 - 3:30 pm Friday in the church prior to services. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Contributions in memory of Thom may be donated to the Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to the American Cancer Society of North Central Indiana, 130 Red Coach Drive, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
