Adams 1951 Richard E Shenenberger
1933 – May 22, 2017
Chesapeake - Richard Eugene Shenenberger, 83, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2017 surrounded by his family after a short illness. A native of South Bend, IN he was a high school basketball and track star at John Adams High School. He later attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI on a basketball and track scholarship where he was vice president of his class and a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. A Navy veteran he served as a yeoman with VF-152 (Flying Aces) deploying to the western Pacific on the USS Wasp (CVA-18) in 1956.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife and love of his life Karen Kay Kindig. He is survived by his son, Donald Shenenberger, M.D. of Chesapeake, VA, daughter Kristina Shenenberger of Sterling, VA, and son, Dennis Shenenberger of Ada, OK; and his grandchildren, Alex and Caroline of Chesapeake, VA, and Kaeley and Jayden of Ada, OK.
His family will hold a private memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving donations to Western Michigan University's general scholarship fund.
