June Adeline (Crawley) Berndt, 66, entered into peaceful rest at 11:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2.
June was surrounded by her family whom she faithfully loved, nurtured and cherished throughout her life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by Edward Berndt, her husband of 37 years, who died in June 1990.
Mom loved to paint, craft and be a grandmother. Her family was her passion and we have all reaped the blessings of her love.
June was born on July 20, 1934, and lived her life in the South Bend area.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her three sons, Michael Berndt of South Bend, Ind., Robert Berndt of Mishawaka, Ind., and Keith Berndt of Lansing, Mich.; a sister, Katherine Warnke, and a brother, Victor Crawley. She had seven grandchildren, Jason, Chad, Lauren, Alyse, Jacob, Grace and Benjamin Berndt.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 4, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home.
Contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County Hospice or to Hope Rescue Mission.
