SOUTH BEND - Lawrence C. Towne Jr., 61, of Chipstead Drive, died at 4:50 p.m. Monday in Memorial Hospital of natural causes. Mr. Towne was the owner of Olde Towne Antiques. He was born June 15, 1934, in South Bend. On Feb. 28, 1959, in South Bend, he married Marcia J. Cole. She survives with a daughter, Elizabeth Towne Murphy of Boston; a son, Lawrence C. ''Lance'' III of South Bend; one granddaughter, Samantha Murphy of South Bend; and his mother, Mildred S. Towne of South Bend. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 45, Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, and the Presbyterian Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

MISHAWAKA - A Mishawaka man was in fair condition this morning at St. Joseph Hospital after a car-motorcycle accident around 8:15 p.m. Saturday on Lincoln Way East near Beiger Street, according to police and hospital officials.
 

Walter J. Rounds, 32, of 1005 Penn St., was westbound on Lincoln Way when a car driven by Gerald Schirripa, 33, of 54053 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, slowed in front of him.


Rounds thought Schirripa was going to turn left and passed him on the right. Schirripa, however, turned right, according to police.

Police estimated damage at less than $7,500.

* David Curtis Schoen, 28, of 52579 Leo St., Granger, was treated for neck pain after two cars collided around 1:15 p.m. Sunday on Main Street at Indian Ridge Boulevard, according to police.

Schoen was treated at St. Joseph Hospital and released, a hospital official said.

Schoen was southbound on Main when the collision occurred with a car driven by Melissa Anne Callaway, 18, of 504 Downey Ave. Callaway was northbound on Main and turning west onto Indian Ridge Boulevard when the collision occurred, according to police.

Callaway refused medical treatment for minor facial bleeding.

Police estimated damage at less than $5,000.

* Jackie A. Montavon, 22, of 1271/2 E. Seventh St., was treated for scrapes to her body after she fell off the back of a motorcycle around 11 p.m. Saturday on Sixth Street near West Street, according to police.

Montavon was treated at St. Joseph Hospital and released, a hospital official said.

Montavon was a passenger on a motorcycle with Todd E. Collins, 24, of 10616 Toledo Ave., Osceola.

Collins was eastbound on Sixth when Montavon lost her grip and fell off, according to police.

Lawrence C. Towne III, 30, of 328 W. Marion St., South Bend refused medical treatment for minor arm bleeding after two cars collided around 1:30 p.m. Saturday on Lincoln Way East near Mariellen Avenue, according to police.

Towne was eastbound on Lincoln Way when his car collided with a car driven by Tofica A. Sara, 82, of 16301/2 Lincoln Way East. Sara was turning onto Lincoln Way from a private drive, according to police.

Police estimated damage at less than $7,500.

* Loretta Gunn, 51, of 5136 Breezewood Drive, refused medical treatment for minor leg bleeding after two cars collided around 12:45 p.m. Saturday on Lincoln Way East at Mariellen Avenue, according to police.

Gunn was a passenger in a car with Elizabeth A. Gunn, 18, also of 5136 Breezewood. Gunn was westbound on Lincoln Way East when the collision occurred with a car driven by Gregory C. Schmidt, 24, of 55444 Caldwell Drive, Osceola.

Schmidt was turning east onto Lincoln Way from a private drive on the north side of the street, according to police.

Police estimated damage at less than $5,000.
