MISHAWAKA - Hale S. “Skitch” Henderson, Jr., age 70, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana passed away at 1:46 pm Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette, Wisconsin. Hale was retired from the U.S. State Department. He was born on October 14, 1946 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Hale S. Henderson, Sr. and Clyde D. (Curtis) Henderson. He graduated from John Adams High School inn 1965. On January 17, 1970 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Stoneham, Massachusetts, he was united in marriage to Mary (Haney) Henderson.

Along with his loving wife, Mary; Hale is survived by daughters, Stacie Alvarado of South Bend and Amy (Rachel Hutchinson) Henderson of Brewster, MA; sons, Shawn (Wanda) Henderson of Fishers, IN and Allan (Autumn) Henderson of Indianapolis, IN; seven grandchildren, Samantha Henderson, Stephen Henderson, Charles Alvarado, Maxwell Alvarado, Donovan Alvarado, Annabelle Henderson and Aiden Henderson; his brother, David L. (Pam) Henderson of Florida; and nephew, Michael Henderson.

The family would like to thank the Michiana Hematology Oncology, Dr. Rafat Ansari, Physician Assistant Brandy; all the nurses at the Infusion Center-St. Joseph Regional Medical Center; the St. Joseph Blood Transfusion Center; the Good Samaritans near Crivitz, Wisconsin; and the ER Staff at the Bay Area Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 8, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615. Rev. Bob Vale will officiate. Military honors and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
