Gregory Watson July 15, 1957 - July 20, 2018 SOUTH BEND - Gregory was born on July 15, 1957 to the late Alonzo and Gladys Watson in Pontiac, MI. He was surrounded by loving family members when he peacefully transitioned to heaven on July 20, 2018. Gregory accepted Christ at an early age at Olivet A.M.E. Church, where he grew up and participated in many ministries, including the Inspirational Choir and Usher Board. Gregory faithfully served God wherever he resided, most recently at North Desoto Church in Desoto, Texas and New Ellerton Church in Aiken, South Carolina. Gregory graduated as an accomplished athlete from John Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana (class of 1975). In 2004, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Dallas Baptist University. Gregory, a U.S. Army Veteran, eventually relocated to North Texas where he lived for the last thirty years. During this time, he retired after working 20 years in telecommunications. Greg was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching Notre Dame football, March Madness, and “his” Cowboys. He also enjoyed traveling, visiting family, & attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Family was always a great source of joy and pride. Greg is survived by his loving wife, Vonda Thomas-Watson; his children, Tiffany Watson, Andre (Tanisha) Watson, Katrena Greer (Kelvin), and Ayanna Watson; as well as his grandchildren, Amanda, Jada, Whitney, Kelvin, Jr., Kensington, and Adrianna, who were some of his greatest loves. From Gregory's marriage to Vonda, he opened his heart to her children, Candice Mitchell (Wesley), Antonia Duncan (Cory), Delma Thomas (Dejuan), and Anthony Thomas, Jr.; and grandchildren, Starla, Taiya, Skylah, Amazeyon, and Adia, whom he loved like his own. Gregory is also survived by his siblings, Aaron (Sandra), Angela, and Glenn (Tina), who provided him with a lifetime of love, support, and memories. Gregory's love and laughter will be missed by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A Memorial Service for Gregory Watson will be held at 1PM Saturday, July 28 in Olivet AME Church, 719 N. Notre Dame Avenue, South Bend, IN.
