Sidney “Sid” Polk of Ashburn, Virginia passed away on Wednesday January 18, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Jennie Polk. Sidney is survived by his wife, Ardith Sue Polk, sons, Jonathan Polk, Matthew Polk, and Daniel Polk, grandchildren, Ben Polk, Josh Polk, Sarah Polk, Ryan Polk, Gabe Polk, Dara Polk, and Ethan Polk.

Sid was born on October 19, 1940 in South Bend, Indiana. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in electrical engineering. Sidney went on to further his education by completing his Master of Systems Engineering in 1964 from University of Pennsylvania. After completing his education, Sidney, started his career as a technical engineer at Bell Laboratories. Sidney furthered his career by taking the technical director position at MITRE Corporation, where he worked till his retirement.

Sidney had many hobbies including running, hiking, traveling, gardening, and coaching youth sports. His passion for running pushed him to complete multiple marathons in his lifetime.
