COOGAN, Kelly O'Malley

Oct. 13, 1969 Dec. 6, 2018 An amazing woman departed this life last Thursday, and we are all better for having known and loved her. Kelly O'Malley Coogan, 49, passed away unexpectedly on December 6. Kelly was born to Carol (Garvey) O'Malley and Hugh O'Neil O'Malley in Montclair, New Jersey on October 13, 1969. She moved with her family to South Bend, IN in 1972. During her early years, Kelly was a dedicated and gifted gymnast, winning an all-round state championship before she was 10 years old. She graduated from John Adams High School in 1987 and Miami of Ohio in 1991, where she was awarded Phi Beta Kappa honors. She earned a law degree from Indiana University and specialized in the area of employment law. She was an attorney who was valued by her colleagues and respected by all of her peers. On May 31, 1997, Kelly married Michael Coogan at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. She is survived by her husband Michael, her son Riley (14) and her daughter Malley (12), as well as her mother Carol O'Malley (husband Bill Bagatini), her father Hugh O'Malley and her sister Anne O'Malley. Kelly was blessed with a large and close-knit family, including aunts, uncles, cousins and countless close and wonderful friends who will miss her dearly. Please join us for a celebration of Kelly's life on Saturday, December 15 at H.M. Patterson & Son Spring Hill Chapel, 1020 Spring Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30309.
