Steve L. Tamandli, 85, passed from this life Saturday, May 14, 2022.  He was born February 2, 1937 in South Bend to the late Steve and Mildred Tamandli and remained a lifelong area resident. Steve was a United States Army veteran and later enjoyed a long career with United Airlines.

Steve was an avid participant and supporter of Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Solo II racing, becoming a national champion multiple times.  He loved movies, old TV shows and sweets, his favorite being cream horns from his favorite Mishawaka bakery.  He was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend.  He was most proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Steve is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Paul Deachin of Vermont; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Donna Tamandli of Florida, grandchildren Robin Newsome of South Bend, Ben Deachin of North Dakota, Emily Deachin of Massachusetts; and two great granddaughters Olivia and Kinsley.  Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Caldwell) Tamandli and his daughter, Terri (Tamandli) Haney.

Per Steve’s wishes, no public service will be held.  Memorial contributions may be made to Heathwin to support their mission of providing a healthy, healing environment for long term care.
