Phyllis Jean (Dunn) Sult, aged 74, passed away peacefully on the 5th of April, 2024 in South Bend, IN, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 17, 1949, to the late Homer Dunn and Evelyn (Fetters) Neal, Phyllis was a beacon of kindness and an embodiment of love throughout her life.

Phyllis's was born in Dayton, OH but moved to South Bend as a child where she was a lifelong resident. She married her beloved late husband, James Sult, on September 29, 1972. She lived a full life, weaving a tapestry of memories with her family, including her daughters, Tammy Gumm of South Bend and Pepper (Jason) Hoffer of South Bend. Her family also extended to her stepchildren, Stacy (Keith) Miller of Osceola and Dallas (Troy) Trace of Niles, Michigan. The legacy of love and care she nurtured within her family continues to flourish.

Phyllis was a cherished mother figure and a guiding star to many, including her grandchildren, Ricky (Stacy) Zimmerman of Osceola, Amber Balbo of South Bend, Scott (Stephanie) McKenna of South Bend, Viktor Gumm of St. Joseph, MI, and Natasha (Nathan) Gumm of South Bend, along with her precious step-grandchildren: Tim Miller of Oregon, Kenneth Trace of Indiana, Stephanie Matheson of Elkhart, Kevin McKenna of Osceola, Dylan O'Hara of Mishawaka, Kyle Brennan-O'Hara of Mishawaka, Olivia Hoffer of Mishawaka, Chad Miller of Osceola, and Angel Hoffer of Mishawaka. A proud graduate of South Bend Adams High School, Phyllis dedicated 35 sterling years serving and brightening the days of countless guests as a waitress at Bonnie Dunes in Mishawaka. Her work was more than a job; it was an extension of her unwavering commitment to community and the joy of connection.

Beyond her professional life, Phyllis relished the excitement of football squares, the thrill of a good bingo game, and the drama of her favorite television show, 'Big Brother'. An avid reader, she found comfort and delight in the world of books. Phyllis's infectious sass, boundless fun, and her undeniably loving and caring nature touched all whom she encountered. As a friend to everyone, she exemplified a life well-lived and well-loved.

Phyllis was a soul of affection and warmth, embodying the essence of being loving and friendly, and she will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
