Michael J. Quimby

Nov. 21, 1949 - June 29, 2009
MISHAWAKA - Michael J. Quimby of Mishawaka, passed away at 11:55am, Monday, June 29, 2009 at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend, surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born on November 21, 1949, in South Bend to the late Charles and Anita (Sperling) Quimby.

Surviving Michael is his wife Pamela (Hernicz) Quimby, and his three children Carri (Armando) Quimby, Marcus (Chrissy) Quimby and Camiel (Nathan) Gibson. Michael was a loving and caring grandfather to seven grandchildren, Taylor Graham, Zachary Quimby, Austin Quimby, Jordan Luva, Dylan Quimby, Kierstyn Quimby and Morgan Gibson. Also surviving are two sisters, Terry Beth (Dan) Kilgas, Patti Jo (Russell) Quimby and three brothers, Richard "Butch" (Delisa) Quimby, Johnny Lee Quimby and Charles Richard Quimby Jr. along with several nieces and nephews.

Michael was an award winning wrestler at the 135 lb. weight class at John Adams High School.

Michael served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force throughout the Vietnam Conflict receiving an honorable discharge. Michael retired as a laborer from Steel Warehouse after fifteen years of service. In his later years he enjoyed Blues and Rock & Roll music and he was an avid Chicago Bears and White Sox fan. Most of all he cherished the love of his children and grandchildren, who will all miss him greatly.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 2, 2009 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Bubb Funeral Chapel 3910 N. Main St. Mishawaka. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial is to follow the service at the Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to defray the funeral expenses.
