Robert Eugene Walker - Class Of 1960

Robert Eugene Walker

Robert E. Walker, 81, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from an extended illness. 

Robert was born on February 7, 1942 in South Bend, to the late Junia H. and Ruth A. (Murphy) Walker.  He married Joyce (Brown) Walker who precedes him in death.  Also preceding him in death is his sister, Barbara Cassler and a brother, Thomas Walker.  Robert is survived by his two daughters, Sandra Walker of Fort Myers, FL and Toni (Todd) Sandlin of Williston, FL., and by three sons, Robert A. Walker of South Bend, Gerald T. Walker of Mishawaka, and Michael Walker of Houston, TX and also by 10 grandchildren. 

Robert honorably served his country in the United States Navy.  He was a self-employed contractor and enjoyed wood working. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards or shooting a game of darts and was a member of the Clay Democratic Club.  His hobby was collecting old coins.  Robert’s true joy in life was spending time with his loving family and friends. 

Robert’s family is following his wishes to be cremated.  There will be a celebration of Robert’s life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Robert, maybe made to Disabled Veterans, 1205 Middleton Run Road, Elkhart, IN 46516 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, 230 W. Monroe Suite 200, Chicago, IL 60606.
