Dr. Richard A. Bowyer

5/2/1940 - 7/23/2005

Dr. Richard ABowyer, D.D.S., 65, of South Bend, passed away of natural causes on Saturday, July 23, in Johns Memorial Hospital, Franklin, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernelle (Bubel) Bowyer and Dr. Glen Bowyer, D.D.S.

He leaves behind his wife, Rebecca Overholser; a daughter, Carolyn (Bart) Chishllm of Ashburn, Va.; a son, Rick (Teresa) Bowyer of Ashburn, Va.; a stepson, Kyle R. Dentino of Bremen, Ind.; two grandchildren, Olivia and Nicholas Chishllm; a sister, Marilyn (Barney) Liberman of Pompano, Beach, Fla.; a niece, Gale, and a nephew, Jim, both of Florida.

Dr. Boyer followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and father. He graduated from the University of Detroit School of Dentistry and took over his father's practice. He operated a Dental Center in South Bend for 30 years and recently retired. Dick enjoyed spending time on Lake Michigan on his boat. He loved the expression: "American by birth, Harley rider by choice." He enjoyed spending time with his loyal companions, Ollie and Ollie II. He will be missed by his beloved wife, children, grandchildren and friends.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, in the HICKEY Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17131 Cleveland Road, with a memorial service to follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be held in Ashburn, Va., at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stroke Association.
