Joni Kay Lindale (Williamson)

Joni Williamson, 82, loving wife and sister, passed away peacefully with her husband Bob at her side on Thursday, November 23.

Joni was born on July 12, 1941, in Valparaiso, Indiana, to Morley and Helen (Esserman) Lindale. On September 7, 1963, she married Robert Williamson at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church in South Bend, Indiana.

Joni received an undergraduate degree in teaching from Drake University in Des Moine, Iowa, a master's in teaching from Indiana University, South Bend, and a master's in Nonprofit Administration from the University of Notre Dame. She taught elementary education in South Bend for 30 years, retiring in 1995.

Joni is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert, her sister Noreen McClendon of Knoxville, Tennessee, and her brother Hal of Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Jean Ludwig.

Joni loved to travel, sail, golf, read, attend plays and concerts, and talk with family, friends, and everyone else—she knew no strangers. She is remembered as upbeat, cheerful, pleasant, and caring, with a bubbly personality and bright smile, a delight to be around.

As per her wishes, there will be no public service. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunnyside Presbyterian Church or to the scholarship fund of The Ladies of Notre Dame & Saint Mary's College.
