MISHAWAKA - Ronald A. Miller, 69, of Kenosha, WI, passed away on December 12th in his residence. Ron was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, on September 14, 1940, to Wyland and Mildred (Vergan) Miller.

He was united in marriage to Karen Jean Outcalt on February 10, 1962, in Mishawaka, Indiana. Karen preceded him in death in 2007. Both Ron and Karen were members of St. Mary's Lutheran Church.

Ron served his country in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1969 as a boiler operator/repairman. He was stationed with the 6th fleet in Norfolk, VA, until 1966 and then at Great Lakes Naval Base as a company commander training new recruits. Ron began his business career with Zurich Insurance Company in 1969 and retired after 39 years in 2008 as assistant vice president/Director of Boiler and Machinery Services. He received his National Board Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors Commission in 1969, and he was a member of the Society of Safety Engineers. Ron was the past chairman of the Wisconsin Boiler Association and chairman of American Insurance Association Legislative Committee in Washington, D.C.

After retirement Ron enjoyed fishing and golfing in his leisure time. Most of all, Ron loved spending time with family and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Karen, and his parents.

He is survived by his four children, Sherry Carter of Kenosha, Glenn Miller of Kenosha, Deborah (Glenn) Johnson of Kenosha and Lance (Tina) Miller or Racine, WI; nine grandchildren, Amber, Amanda, Ashley, Rachael, Sarah, Nicholas, Emma, Brandon and Teigan; and one great-granddaughter, Taryn.

Funeral service for Ronald will be held on Thursday, December 17, at noon at St. Mary's Lutheran Church (2001 - 80th Street) in Kenosha. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, December 16, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Hansen-Lendman Funeral Home and on Thursday, December 17, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at St. Mary's Lutheran Church. Entombment will be held at All Saints Cemetery (3300 Springbrook Road, Pleasant Prairie).

The family has requested memorials be made to Hospice Alliance or to the American Cancer Society.
