John Marshall Nelson, 32, of Pittsburgh, Pa., a former South Bend resident, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, after an illness of nine days.
He was born Nov. 16, 1941, in Chicago and had lived in Pittsburgh for 20 months, going there from Lima, Ohio. He was an instructor for IBM. On Sept. 4, 1965, in Cleveland, Ohio, he married the former Nancy Cross, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David and Steven, both of Farmington Hills, Mich.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Nelson Jr., who recently moved to Farmington Hills from South Bend, and a sister, Mrs. Linda Pearson of South Bend.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Albert L. Freyvogel Funeral Home, 112 Fort Cough Rd., Pittsburgh, with Rev. Lee Hearn officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Gardens, Washington County, Pa. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
