Marvin E. Naftzger 75, of Lyman, SC, loving husband of Mary L. Naftzger died February 16, 2011 after a short bout with pneumonia. He was born in South Bend, IN on January 4,1936 to the late George and Jane Naftzger.


He is survived by his wife of 53 years Mary L Naftzger, a son Kevin Naftzger of Mulberry FL, & two daughters Wendi (Ron) Harpel of Greer, SC and Dawn (Kip) Helser of Overland Park, KS along with 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Sherman (Willetta) Naftzger of Dallas TX and two sisters Catherine (Bill) Moshak of Mishawaka, IN, Sharon (Brad) Robertson of Niles, MI.

He graduated from John Adams High school in South Bend IN and was a 58 year polio survivor. He attended Indiana University, Purdue University and Notre Dame and for extensive engineering studies.

He was a retired Manufacturing Engineering Manager from Raytheon in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was past chairman of Society of Manufacturing Engineers for Region 30 in South Bend, IN, and region 56 in Fort Wayne. He was also Regional Chairman of Region 4 for SME covering Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. He was past building chairman for River Park Methodist Church in South Bend.

While residing in Plant City, Florida he was the chairman of Magnolia Hill Homeowners Association.

He moved to Lyman, SC in August of 2008 and attended Lyman Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Wednesday YMCA Senior euchre group, in Simpsonville and was a Byrnes High School Booster member .


Memorial services will be Monday 2/21/11 at 1pm at Lyman United Methodist Church 106 Groce Rd, Lyman, SC.
