Carole (Nagy) Chevrie, 73, of New Buffalo, MI died at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Michigan City, IN on Friday, July 22, 2011. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo.
Carole was born on Nov. 21, 1937 in South Bend, IN to Raymond and Louise (Henry) Wilhite. She was a 1956 graduate of John Adams High School of South Bend. Carole was Clerk-Treasurer of the Village of Michiana for 25 years, and also of the Village of Grand Beach for 15 years. She was also a past president for the Village of Michiana. Carole was a member of the Womens Auxiliary of the New Buffalo American Legion Post #169, and also a former member of the New Buffalo Service League.
Carole is survived by her husband Lonnie D. Chevrie; two sons, Chris (Lisa) Nagy of Michiana and James (Susan) Nagy of Bakersfield, CA; four grandchildren, Taylor, Jennifer, Jason and Daniel; and two great grandchildren, Matty and Zoe. She is preceded in death by her first husband, John Robert Nagy and her parents, Raymond and Louise.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, July 23, 11:00 AM (EST) at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo, with Pastor Damien Lake officiating. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Michigan City, IN. Visitation is on Sunday from 3:00-6:00 PM (EST) at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Buffalo American Legion Post #169.
