Richard Eugene Scott

Nov. 5, 1938 - Aug. 7, 1977

Richard E. Scott, Sr., 38, of 1024 Talbot, died at 5 a.m. Sunday in his home after an extended illness. He was a former South Bend policeman and an employee of the Chrysler Corp., Flint Mich.

He was born on Nov. 5, 1938 in Richmond, Ind. and lived here since 1943.

Surviving are two sons, Richard Jr. and James A., both of South Bend; five sisters, Mrs. Geraldine Coker, Mrs. Maxie V. Price, Mrs. Ollie M. Herron and Mrs. Christyne M. Woolridge, all of South Bend and Mrs. Marilouise Hill of Columbus, Ind.; a brother, James D. of South Bend and his mother, Mrs. Marie F. Scott of South Bend.

Private services will be Tuesday morning in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William with Rev. Daniel E. Perl, pastor of the Holy Family Catholic Church and Rev. Frank Quinlivan, C.S.C. director of the Justice and Peace Center, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Scott was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Police and attended Indiana University, Bloomington.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Memorial Park. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. He was a member of the Morris Park Country Club. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County Heart Fund.
