Robert Dale Wetter

Dec. 10, 1938 – Mar. 13, 2011

South Bend – Bob Wetter, 72, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of South Bend, died March 13, 2011 in Knoxville after a brief illness. He is survived by two sons, Robert Wetter and James (Robyn) Wetter both of Knoxville; his mother, Betty Wetter of Florida; his sister Becki (Dave) Hadaway of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Born December 10, 1938 in Anchorage, AK. Bob’s family moved to South Bend while he was very young. He was a 1957 graduate of John Adams High School, and served in the U.S. Navy four years. He had been employed as a pipe fitter and was a licensed heating and air-conditioning technician. In May 1966, he married Patricia “Patt” (Mullen) Wetter who preceded him in death. He tenderly cared for his wife during her illness. He was also preceded in death by his father, Marion Wetter.

Bob  admired and respected his mother, Betty, who taught school many years in South Bend; his father Marion, a well-known barber in the area, and his brother-in-law, Dave Hadaway, former Adams High School  basketball coach. Family and friends will remember the many stories Bob shared with them as he was a gifted story teller. His tales were often laced with good moral values and always demonstrated a wonderful sense of humor. He had a deep love of family and friends and was dedicated and loyal to both.

Memorial services were held March 19, 2011 at the Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, Knoxville, www.berryfuneralhome.com.
