Mary Beth Strombeck (Perry)

Mary Perry
South Bend - Mary Perry, 77 years old, peacefully passed away Monday, June 21, 2021, at The St. Joseph Valley Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. She was born January 11, 1944, in South Bend, Indiana to Marie Strombeck (Gehl) and Robert Strombeck. On July 8, 1989, Mary married the love of her life, Chester Perry.
Mary was a lifelong resident of Michiana and lived for most of her life in the River Park neighborhood of South Bend. Mary worked for many years in the manufacturing industry. She attended John Adams High School where her son, Heath Weaver also attended. Her granddaughter Sierra Weaver just graduated as valedictorian from John Adams and Mary was at the graduation where Sierra included her grandmother in her valedictorian speech. Her other granddaughter, Rajiya, also attends John Adams and will be a junior next year.
Mary was a lifelong Notre Dame football fan and was fortunate enough to see her son, Heath, graduate from Notre Dame Law School in 1998 and to learn her granddaughter, Sierra, will be attending there as a member of the class of 2025. She was also alive to learn that her granddaughter, Rajiya will be joining the SBCSC CTE Program for Firefighting. She was immensely proud of all of them. Heath states very clearly that his mother's love of reading was passed down to him and then to his daughters and that the successes he has had in life are due to Mary's guidance and purchase of many books when he was a child.
Mary is survived by her husband of 32 years, Chester Perry; son, Heath (Wylette) Weaver of South Bend; granddaughters, Sierra and Rajiya Weaver; step sons, Trampus (Tara) Perry of Leo, Indiana and his family, Scott Perry of Westville, Indiana; Brothers, Robert Strombeck of North Carolina and Charles Brugh of Mishawaka, Indiana; sister Paulette Rowe of Punta Gorda, Florida; close nieces and nephews, Micky Haney, Summer Ditsch, Cory Brugh, Jessica Shirk, and Amanda Brugh, all living in the Michiana area.
Along with her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her sons, Andrew (died at 9 months old) and Lenny (died at birth); her stepson, Casey Perry; her beloved sister, Ruth Susan (Susie) Schneider and her stepfather, J.D. Rosell.
