Mark Vincent Warner

Mark Vincent Warner

Apr. 8, 1945 - Sep. 9, 2021

Mark Vincent Warner, 76, of College Park, Florida, passed away September 9th, 2021, his 54th wedding anniversary.

He was born April 8th, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the eldest son of the late Millard V. ‘Bud’ Warner and Margaret (Young) Warner.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon A. ‘Sam’ Warner; son Mark William Warner; daughter Ann M. (Warner) Whelan (Joseph Whelan Jr., LTC Ret.); siblings Eric V. and Robert L. Warner; and Grandson Joseph Whelan III.

Mark held a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida, and a Master’s in Business Administration in Finance from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C.

Mark spent a long and honorable career in the field of finance, serving in both federal government service and private industry with organizations such as NASA, the United States Department of State, the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the Marine Corp Installation Command, as well as various roles with the US Department of Defense.

He was a man of faith who volunteered to serve his country, and did so honorably in the United States Army from 1968 through 1973.

He was a gentle, kind-hearted, sincere, loving and dependable man with a curious mind, an exceedingly dry wit, and a quick, earnest smile. His quiet dignity, and steady, reassuring presence was a consistent and abiding source of inspiration to all who knew him. In word and deed he was sincere and loyal.

He was precise, fastidious, and neat; never over-bearing, quick to forgive, and true to his word.

He was a man of few words, but always consistent and steady in action. When he said something you knew he meant it—sincerely and authentically. He had a way of ‘piercing through the noise’ of a conversation or a situation with just a single wry comment, or knowing look.

He was at once both the picture of straight-laced tradition and yet, somehow, always effortlessly, classically, cool.

He loved his family with a steadfast and unwavering loyalty that is precious and rare. His attendance at his childrens’ soccer practices, ballet recitals, and innumerable activities through the years were testament to this. He could always be seen coaching or warmly encouraging from the sidelines, and gave us the enduring gift of reliably documenting it all.

He loved to sail, and was instinctively and spontaneously kind to animals and small children. He was well-traveled and well read. The image of his smile, his hand on the tiller, with the sun on his face, and the wind at his back is how we will remember him.

The memory of his life, his character, and his example will forever be a source of abiding inspiration. The love he embodied and instilled in us will forever reverberate in this world and the next.

He is and will continue to be greatly missed.

We love you. Always and forever.

Until we see you again on that glorious day in God’s presence….

To family and friends for Mark I say WOW.  To have lived a life worthy of Mark's obituary means that he was one fine man.  What an amazing testimony to a life well lived.  I didn't know Mark, but I recognize his face because I know we had to have passed many times throught the hallowed halls of John Adams High School.  You all have honored  his life through your words.  We should all be so blessed.  I hope we all meet in glory someday.  God bless you as you miss your friend and loved one.  Another Eagle has flown into the clouds.  G
