BREMEN - John Baxter-Stickel, 59, of 8410 Clark St., Bremen, died at 3:05 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, in South Bend Memorial Hospital after a 11/2-year battle with cancer. He was born January 4, 1950, in Chicago, IL, to Chester Baxter and Evelyn Stickel. He lived most of his life in the Bremen/South Bend area. He was a graduate of John Adams High School. He had worked at Bremen Bearing for 25 years. Mr. Baxter-Stickel was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bremen and South Bend Scottish Rite. He was an Amateur Radio Operator and enjoyed electronics. He loved wildlife and elephants. He enjoyed photography and loved helping people. John is survived by his daughter, Dawn Baxter, Bremen; mother, Evelyn Keating, South Bend; two sisters, Maureen (Mike) Newton, Bristol, and Sandra (Len) Murray, Nashville, IN; a brother, Lawrence Keating, South Bend; a nephew, Andrew Newton; and two nieces, Jennifer and Jessica Newton. He was preceded in death by his father. Friends may call from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday in Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. A Masonic Service will begin at 3 p.m. followed by funeral services. Rev. John Bollinger of Bremen Pentecostal Church will officiate and burial will be at Olive West Cemetery, Wakarusa
