ROBERT J. MURPHY

Feb. 8, 1951 - Feb. 8, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Robert John Murphy passed away peacefully at Scott & White Hospital in Round Rock, TX, with his wife by his side. He was born February 8, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, to Don and Sue Murphy (past owners of The Skillet restaurant).

On September 24, 1989, he married Judith Cooper Murphy, who survives. He is also survived by his brother, Gordon Murphy, and sister-in-law, Maureen Murphy of Rockford, IL, and his niece, Kristin Romanski of Chicago.

Bob was a 1969 graduate of John Adams High School and a 1973 graduate of Michigan State University.

He was a Human Resource Manager working primarily in the timber/paper industry. Bob enjoyed being an avid supporter of all Chicago sport teams as well as the Michigan State Spartans. Other enjoyments were traveling with his wife, being with his dogs, and playing the piano. While in high school, Bob played keyboards for the local South Bend band, "The Shags."

Cremation will be held in Texas. A memorial service is planned for this summer in South Bend.
