In Memory

Deoborah J Bogan (Moore) - Class Of 1965

Deoborah J Bogan (Moore)

Deborah J. Bogan – Moore, age 73, of River Park, passed away Sunday afternoon.  Deborah worked as a Paralegal for several law offices for over 35 years and her last position before retiring in 1987 was at the Better Business Bureau.

Deborah was born on June 22, 1947 in Valparaiso, IN to the late Frank and Florence (Shinnabarger) Bogan and lived in River Park most of her life.

She is survived by a daughter, Denise (Thomas II) Groves and their son, Thomas Groves III of South Bend, two sons, Stephen M. Moore of Phoenix, AZ and Daniel F. Moore of Denver, CO.  Also surviving is a sister, Dianne (Al) DeMaegd of Jasper, IN.  A brother, Frank Bogan, preceded her in death.

Deborah was very active in the River Park Business Association, Methodist Church Food Pantry, and missionary work. She took her grandson Thomas alongside with her to all of these since the age of three. She had him reading chapter books also at the age of three, which helped him to achieve the honors program at Adams High School. He has received several college acceptance letters including ND. He was the light of her life being the only grandchild. She was incredibly talented at her ceramic hobby. The pieces she made as gifts for family and friends will always be treasured. I am sure that she has already started a euchre club and is dancing to Motown. Until we meet again, with all our love Mom to the moon and back

Palmer Funeral Home – River Park is assisting the family with cremation services. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.

Barbara Lynn Schrop (Taylor) (1965)

Debbie and I were neighbors on 28th Street for years.  As little girls we played together every day.  We picked grapes from her backyard grape arbor and put on little circuses.  We giggled uncontrollably at her Grandma's last name: Shinnabarger.  All one of us needed to do was to say the word and we were doubled over laughing.  There was nothing really funny about the last name; it just struck us as hilarious.

I'm proud of Debbie for her talents and her hard work for the South Bend community.

Deb and I have known each other since kindergarten. Her mom was our Bluebird leader. Our parents got together.  They had great Halloween parties at her house. They gave us a black kitten. Deb was fun to be with. I was always wishing that she would come to one of our classreunions, but it never happened. Nuner people remain close to our hearts. I am so sad that she left her family too soon. Love to all of you. XOXO
