Cody Mikel Houk

Cody Mikel Houk, age 30, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2024, in the same city where he was born.

Born on October 13, 1993, to Mikel and Amy Houk, Cody was a lifelong resident of South Bend. He was known for his kind heart and affable spirit. The close-knit Houk family grieves his loss deeply, including his parents, his devoted brother Branden Houk of South Bend, maternal grandparents, Patrick and Cheryl McNerney, along with his great-grandmother Marilyn Hazelip, joined his paternal grandparents, William Houk of South Bend and Susan (Herm) Freitag of Washinton and his beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cody's aunts and uncles, Angela (Tim) Bannon of South Bend, Andrea (Chris) Czar of Michigan, Kevin Houk of Mishawaka, Jason Houk of Bremen, and Lee Ann (Doug) Seitsinger of Texas, cherishing every moment they shared with him. Cody’s cousins Codey (Caitlin) McNerney of South Bend, Kevin Boyer of Plymouth, Haley Bannon of North Liberty, Kaden, Eli and Lucy Czar of Michigan and Joshua and Christopher Houk of Kentucky.

Cody attended Adams High School where he met some of his longest lasting friendships and found a passion for photography.

Cody's passions were simple yet profound. He was an ardent animal lover, with a special place in his heart for his cat, MoMo. His affinity for animals was a bond that endeared him to many and highlighted his compassionate soul. He discovered a love for gardening after he became a homeowner. Cody was also a talented artist finding his passion for designing body art.

Cody will be remembered for his warm and gentle demeanor, his readiness to lend a helping hand, and the brightness of his smile that could light up a room. His legacy of kindness and his deep love for his family will be treasured forever.
