BUCK, Dr. Rodger L., age 77, died in Alexander City, AL at Russell Hospital, February 11, 2002, after a long illness. A memorial service with military honors will be held Friday, February 15, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in Tallapoosa County Memory Gardens in Dadeville, AL. The Rev. Robert Landcaster will officiate.
 
He was an orthopedic surgeon in World War II where he served in the United States Army. He served in the Korean War under the United States Navy. He proudly provided care to his fellow soldiers. Dr. Buck lived his life with integrity and generosity, choosing to spend the last years of his practice on a Navaho Reservation providing indigent care to patients who otherwise could not have been seen by a doctor. He also had a medical practice in his beloved hometown of Spencer, Indiana.
 
Dr. Buck leaves in passing to mourn him, his beloved wife, Ruth Petty Buck; four stepchildren, Valerie Oviatt, Larry Petty and wife Carol, David Petty and wife Sarah, Joseph Petty and wife Carol; five grandchildren, Jeremy Jones, Jessica, Lauren, David and Sam Petty; one stepsister, Ann Chaparos; one nephew, Jim Odell; his beloved dogs, Chico, Moose, Poncho and Baby Brother. He also leaves behind a beloved friend, Arron Reese and numerous friends far and wide.
 
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association. Alabama Funeral Homes and Cremation Centers is in charge of the arrangements.
