MARY (CORBAN) RIGHTSELL

Aug. 8, 1924 - Feb. 25, 2012
MICHIGAN CITY - Mrs. Mary Margaret Rightsell, 87, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 1:00 P.M. of natural causes surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Rightsell was born August 8, 1924, in Terre Haute, IN, to the late Fred T. and Catherine Elizabeth Corban.

Mary was in the first graduating class of Adams High School in South Bend, IN, and married John H. Kreps.

Soon afterwards, she joined the Navy Waves during WW II and served her country with distinction until the war's end.

Upon returning home, Mary dedicated herself to raising her children and eventually spending time with her grandchildren. Mary later remarried to Carl T. Rightsell of Michigan City, and relocated to the city and has called it home ever since. Mary owned and operated a small antique shop while helping her husband Carl manage his own company until his passing on May 10, 1987.

Mary enjoyed her remaining time spending time with her children and grandchildren and visiting with her brothers down in Florida whenever she had the opportunity. Mary also enjoyed bowling, playing marathon sessions of pinochle with family, working crossword puzzles, and generally living life to its fullest.

Mary is survived by her four children, Jacqueline K. (Mike P.) Cook of South Bend, Joy K. Rightsell of Virginia, Joseph K. Kreps of South Bend and Jon K. Kreps of Michigan City. Mary is also survived by 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her three brothers, Edward Corban, Donald Corban and Fred Corban, all of Florida.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas Corban and John Corban. Mary will never be forgotten as a loving mother, grandmother and dear friend to all the family and friends fortunate enough to have known her. We will all miss and cherish our time with Mary, and take comfort in knowing that she is now in a better place and at peace.

Visitation will be from 3-7 P.M. on Wednesday, February 29th, at the Carlisle Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in Mary's honor as it was one of her favorite charities, and she loved helping others whenever she could.
